Join Clint Flack of the Mercer Museum for a fascinating look at the notorious Doan Gang and their role during the American Revolution. The gang became one of the most infamous Loyalist groups in Bucks County. Numbering over 60 members at its height, they were accused of horse theft, robbery, spying, aiding British prisoners of war, and other acts that earned them a reputation as outlaws and traitors. 

Learn about the gang’s exploits, including their most famous crime—the 1781 theft of the Bucks County treasury—and explore the legend and the truth behind the Doan gang's connection to Washington's crossing of the Delaware. The program will also feature images of artifacts from the exhibition that relate to George Washington’s crossing of the Delaware River in December 1776, offering a unique local perspective on this pivotal moment in American history. 

About Clink Flack

Clint Flack joined the Mercer Museum as an Exhibit Specialist in 2020 after several years as an independent contractor. A lifelong collector and lover of history, he also has over twenty years of experience in construction, conservation and fabrication.  

As a fabricator in the sign industry, Clint helped to design, build, and install several interactive children’s exhibits for various institutions including the Bucks County Children’s Museum and the Crayola Factory. In recent years, Clint has created custom display mounts for several temporary exhibitions at the Mercer Museum, with topics ranging from racing to measurement tools. He has worked with several museums to conserve and restore a diverse array of artifacts, including antique bicycles, antique tractors and other vehicles, a mid-century centrifuge model, clocks, furniture, and signs. For the past two years, he has managed a long-term project to conserve and re-install original tiles on the walls and ceilings of Henry Mercer’s historic home, Fonthill Castle.  

In addition to his hands-on experience, Clint is also a nationally known expert on hay trolleys, farming implements, patent research, and local history, and is one of the region’s foremost experts on the history of the Doan outlaws of Bucks County. Clint is the chief curator of Mercer Museum’s, The Doan Gang: Outlaws of the Revolution exhibition.  

 Clint has worked with several local and national producers on multiple documentaries, including a recent episode of the Discovery Channel’s Expedition Unknown, where Clint was featured as an expert on the Doan Outlaws
