This class will cover designing and printing block prints using soft cut blocks. Students will create their own unique designs while considering positive and negative space, then create a second design using the puzzle-cut method for a multi-color print.  

All materials needed to participate in class are provided.  For students who wish to bring their own supplies, or would like to work at home, please see the suggested supply list below: 

• Linoleum cutter handle 

• Linoleum cutter blades 

• Small V No. 1  

• Large V No. 2  

• Small U Gouge No. 3

• Craft Knife and self-healing cutting mat 

• Metal bench hook/inking plate 

• Speedball Printmaster Paper Pad for Block Printing 

• 9x12”

• Water-Soluble Block Printing Inks 

• Black – 5 oz. 

• White – 2.5 oz. 

• Red – 2.5 oz.  

• Blue – 2.5 oz. 

• Yellow – 2.5 oz.  

• Water-Soluble Block Printing Ink Retarder – 1.25 oz. 

• Hard Rubber Brayer – 6” 

• Baren – smooth plastic or glass *or smooth wooden spoon* 

• Soft-Kut (or equivalent brand) Printing Blocks 

• One - 1/4" x 4" x 6"

• Pencil – HB and 6B
