Need-based scholarships are available by application for children’s classes. 

Teen artists will learn techniques, develop skills, and cultivate creativity while taking a fresh approach to their drawings and paintings, with a focus on observation, demonstrations, individualized instruction, and group critiques. Fall session students will work with a variety of drawing and painting mediums.  

Students will visit the Michener galleries weekly, studying the techniques, images, and ideas of both living and historical artists. This class is for students looking to explore the arts for pleasure, to enhance and enrich their school art experience, as well as students interested in building a successful college portfolio.  

Students may wish to bring a cell phone or tablet for references. Cell phone policy should be reviewed with students prior to the start of class.  

Projects do not repeat, and many students enjoy taking this class in the fall, winter, and spring for consecutive years.  

All materials are included, but some students may wish to bring a sketchbook or notebook from home.  

Teen students in the fall, winter, and spring classes will be invited to submit works of art to the Teen Student Invitational in May 2027.
